- Reconstruction of a landmarked workshop building located at Westermühlstr. 37, 80469 Munich. Change of use from a metal construction workshop into an office.
The building was reconstructed taking into account the monument preservation requirements, thereby improving fire prevention and energy efficiency standards. The installation of three top light openings even rendered it possible to use the building facing north for the first time.
The windows are coupled windows and are an exact replicate of the original context. In the case of the external “masking casements,” the single glazing is, as was formerly the case, sealed from the outside. This is the only way to create an appearance, which corresponds to the historical model.
Due to the requirements associated with monument preservation, an internal insulation consisting of cellular glass was introduced. Throughout the realization of the building project, it was important to preserve the intention of maintaining the workshop atmosphere in the new office. The exposed concrete surface on the new concrete ceiling is complementary to the industrial parquet and turns the room into an exciting creative office.
